Circuit de Mettet - Jules Tacheny

2025: a Year of Emotions and New Developments for Mettet XP

23 December 2025

As part of the five-year celebration marking the centenary of the Royal Union Motor Entre Sambre et Meuse, the year 2025 was defined by a series of sporting, public and training-related events that once again confirmed the position of the Jules Tacheny Circuit within the regional landscape and beyond. Mettet XP now looks back on a dense season, structured around a wide range of clearly identified events.

A sporting season combining national roots and international visibility

The two Belgian Championships, in Supermoto and Rallycross, once again set the pace of the season at the Jules Tacheny Circuit. Each year, these competitions attract a growing audience, both from the local region and from further afield, actively contributing to the development of both disciplines.

The Ford Steveny Superbiker once again highlighted the circuit’s international stature. For its 38th edition, the event hosted the final of the S1GP Supermoto World Championship, placing Mettet at the heart of the global Supermoto scene. Held on October 10th, 11th and 12th, the event welcomed nearly 20,000 spectators over the entire weekend, as well as a historic record of 450 registered riders.
Germany’s Marc-Reiner Schmidt claimed his eighth victory on the iconic Superbiker of Mettet circuit, while also securing his fifth S1GP world title. Meanwhile, 15-year-old Tom Rolin won the Georges Jobé Trophy, awarded to the best-placed Belgian rider in the grand final, setting a new record for precocity.

Public-focused events and moments of connection

Alongside the competitions, Mettet XP continued to develop new initiatives aimed at the general public. The Cycling Day and Running Superbiker allowed 200 cyclists to discover the region and 150 runners to take to the legendary Superbiker circuit.
The Fan Day on August 31st offered enthusiasts the opportunity to meet riders from the Belgian Motorcycle Academy as well as Barry Baltus, while also taking part in the traditional motorcycle ride through the surrounding region.

Mettet XP Open Day and Mettet Xmas: new highlights at the Jules Tacheny Circuit

Two new events were added to the Mettet XP calendar in 2025. The Mettet XP Open Day, organised on May 1st in collaboration with Le Moniteur Automobile, gave the public the opportunity to (re)discover the circuit’s facilities, activities and teams. Nearly 500 cars and motorcycles passed through the site during the event.

On December 13th and 14th, the first edition of Mettet Xmas offered an original programme combining entertainment, sport and the Christmas spirit. Highlights included the visit of the iconic Coca-Cola Christmas Truck, the Pèrenomobilbus, a night running event on the circuit, a festive raclette evening at the Michel Fievet Pavilion, and the second edition of the Supermoto Endurance.

Now established as two key annual events in Mettet, these initiatives reflect the RUMESM’s commitment to opening the circuit to an ever-wider audience.

Mettet XP: a dedicated training hub

In 2025, Mettet XP continued to develop its training hub. Throughout the year, the site hosted numerous sessions dedicated to defensive riding, initiation and advanced driving training, aimed at both private individuals and professionals. Mettet XP thus confirms its ambition to place training at the heart of its activities and public outreach.

An active role within the region

These initiatives further demonstrate the RUMESM’s ongoing commitment to innovation and to opening the circuit to a broader public.
The circuit also hosted Race for the Cure, a walk and run supporting the fight against breast cancer, as well as several solidarity initiatives in support of local associations.

Freddy Tacheny, President of the RUMESM, stated:
“Our activities in 2025 confirmed the momentum built in recent years, based on the pillars of training, sporting practice and local engagement. Through the development of training activities, major sporting events and a strong commitment to public accessibility, the RUMESM continues to evolve in step with its time and its region. We look forward to meeting again in 2026 for new celebrations as part of our centenary.”

2026: a new step forward

The RUMESM is already preparing for an ambitious 2026 season, with new projects designed to further enrich the sporting programme and training hub, while continuing the centenary celebrations.

The RUMESM and Mettet XP warmly thank all partners, volunteers, riders and visitors for their commitment throughout 2025 and extend their best wishes to everyone for 2026.
