4 YOUNG TALENTS SELECTED TO JOIN THE BELGIAN MOTORBIKE ACADEMY
Following the selection day organised on 21 May 2020, four young riders have been identified to be part of the new Belgian Motorcycle Academy. They will join the school for future motorbike champions to follow the 2020 programme of the new academy.
The selection day took place on 21 May 2020 at the Circuit Jules Tacheny under a bright sun. Eight young candidates took part in this very first selection to join the Belgian Motorcycle Academy, which was founded last January.
At the end of the different tests, the members of the jury (Didier Frérot – FMWB, Freddy Tacheny – Belgian Motorcycle Academy, Michel Wanty – Belgian Motorcycle Foundation and Philippe Dujardin – Circuit Jules Tacheny) and the coaches present (Thierry Klutz, Arnaud Dermine, Fred Fiorentino, Gregory Rousseau, Bénédicte Van Moortel as well as Michel Nickmans from Zone Rouge and Pierre Gillion, captain of the Junior Black Knights) unanimously decided on 4 young talents to join the 2020 training programme of the Belgian Motorcycle Academy.
WHO ARE THE 4 YOUNG PILOTS SELECTED?
1. Loris Dekkers (02/12/2007)
Loris Dekkers is 12 years old and comes from Rijkevorsel in Flanders. He has been a motorbike enthusiast since he was 4 years old when he received an electric motorbike for his birthday. Since 2018 he has been competing in the CIV Junior, the Italian pure speed championship.
2. Evan Gourmet (26/12/2006)
Originally from Braine l’Alleud, Evan Gourmet is 13 years old and has been riding motorbikes since he was 8 years old. His favourite disciplines are motocross and above all supermotard, which he has been practising assiduously for 3 years.
3. Tom Rolin (21/12/2009)
Tom Rolin, who comes from Agimont in the Province of Namur, has been riding supermotard since he was 3 years old. In 2019, he finished 3rd in the Belgian Minimotard Championship.
4. Romain Even (24/06/2013)
Although he is not yet 7 years old, this pocket bike rider was included in the selection for his talent and his extraordinary motivation. The youngest of the academicians is currently part of the Dutch Minimoto team and was already competing in the Dutch Junior A Championship in 2019. Because of his young age and small size, Romain Even will follow a lighter training programme than the other academicians.

The four selected riders will join Junior Black Knights Amélie Triffet and Lorenz Luciano in the Belgian Motorcycle Academy. They will all follow the full Academy programme, but Amélie and Lorenz will be the only Belgian riders to participate in the Northern Talent Cup.
The training programme will consist of 14 days of training mainly scheduled on Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays or during school holidays as well as a participation in the closing round of the Belgian Supermoto Championship:
