DAY 2: THE SATURDAY MORNING SUMMARY
The qualifying races of this Saturday morning captivated a large audience gathered along the track of the sunny circuit of Mettet.
The summary of the morning
Touring Car: Best time in Q2 for Norwegian Wilsberg (DS3) ahead of Royras (NOR – Mazda RX8) and Antonsen (NOR – Audi A1). Belgian Steve Volders, sixth in Q2, set the fastest time in Q1 on Friday evening ahead of Lundh (SWE – Volvo) and Wilsberg (NOR – DS3). The other Belgian driver, Filip Baelus, retired in Q1 and was 13th in Q2.
Euro RX Supercar: Reigning RX2 champion Cyril Raymond (Peugeot 208) set the fastest time in Q1, well ahead of Nitiss (LVA – Ford Fiesta) and JB Dubourg (FRA – Renault Clio). Linneman (DNK – VW Polo) and Münninch (DEU – Seat Ibiza) completed the top five. Michaël De Keersmaeker, the only Belgian in this category, was 12th.
RX2: Best time in Q2 for Gundersen (NOR) ahead of Gryazin (LVA) and Krogstad (NOR). Guillaume De Ridder, despite a bad start in his heat, still managed to set the fifth fastest time. Koen Pauwels was 15th. The day before, in Q1, Gryazin was the fastest driver ahead of Gundersen and De Ridder.
Supercar World RX: Petter Solberg (VW) was fastest ahead of the Peugeots of Sébastien Loeb and Timmy Hansen. Johan Kristofferson was fourth ahead of the Audi of Mattias Ekström. François Duval and his old generation Audi S1 could not keep up. The Belgian was 14th.
